February Craft Box Chocolate Box

The February Craft Box is already proving popular. Today I have a little Box for you that is perfect for presenting small bars of Chocolate in an elegant way.

Firstly though, I must apologise for the hiatus that meant I did not post yesterday. I have managed to pick up one of the many flu viruses that is doing the rounds in the UK at the moment and, although I shot the video for this and the next two projects before I succumbed, I did not manage to write the posts and do the other work that is require to bring these to you.

The box uses items from my February Craft Box, plus one of the optional stamp sets, You're Inspiring, to make this a perfect gift for Mother's Day. I have used one of the mini punches from the Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack to make an interesting way of attaching the ribbon around the box. I love looking at different ways to use tools, and this little punch is perfect for all kinds of uses, not just as a 'melon slice'.

I coloured the daffodils with Blends in the original and Watercolour Pencils in the video version, so used the appropriate ink for each; Memento Tuxedo Black for Blends and Archival Basic Black for the Watercolour Pencils. Both inks need to be fully dry before you colour to avoid any bleeding.

Lid - 6" (14.5cm) square. Score each side at 3/4" (1.5cm)
Base - 6-1/2" (16.5cm) square. Trim 1/16" (0.25cm) from top and one side, then score each side at 1" (2.5cm).
Insert - 6-1/8" x 4-3/8" (15.5 x 11cm). With long side at top, and left edge 1/16" (0.25cm) from left side of scoring board, score at 2-1/4", 3-1/8" and 4" (5.5, 7.75 and 10cm)

Inspire Create Challenge #010 Colour Challenge

As you know, I love a good challenge, not just it my crafting life, so I am always happy when it is time to design my project for our Challenge group.

Our challenge this time is a Colour Challenge, which means we can must only use products using this colour pallette, plus Black, Crumb Cake and metallics (oh and Whisper White and Very Vanilla).

As the weather when I was planning this was grey, damp and generally miserable, I was delighted that Hannah (our Design Team Leader) had chosen such a bright pallette. I am pretty pleased with myself that I stuck so closely to the colours we were given.

Heartfelt Blooms a FREE Stamp set during Sale-a-bration

I really am on a sepia theme at the moment, this time very soft stamping to form the background, then a quick sentiment, and all with a free stamp set during Sale-a-Bration.

This card is a bit of a departure for me, I am not sure I have made a card quite like it before, it is very simple, but none the worse for that, in fact I think I need to do a few more like this. Hmmm, let's see what I can come up with; give me a few days.

I used the Everyday Label Punch that has carried over from the Autumn/Winter Catalogue, to punch out the sentiment and to mat it. I love getting the most out of my punches and like to think about how I can use them in a slightly different way, you can see how I did this in the video.

Happy Wishes FREE Stamp Set during Sale-a-Bration

How can I express in the written word how excited I am by this stamp set and the project I have designed with it. And it really is not too complicated, just a bit of heat embossing and some stamping.

Lots of Lavender Layered Card

I don't seem to have made any cards with simple lines for a while now, I think it might be because there are just soooo many new things to play with. Today I am putting this to rights with a simple layered card that, given it has a few stamps to make up the image, came together in almost no time at all.

Covered Note Book Gift. Let me show you how easy this is to do.

I shared a covered note book that I send out as a Gift, last week. I have been asked by a few people to show you how I cover the book, so here we go. It is really easy, trust me on this.

I use a standard Exercise Book as the base, which happens to to be the perfect size to use a half sheet of Designer Series Paper. So I just cut this at 6" and stick to the front of the book with Fast Fuse, lining it up at the top of the book. I then trim the bottom off the paper and save this for later when it comes to covering the chocolate bar I include in my Gift Pack.

I add a piece of ribbon around the spine, a few appropriate Die Cuts to the front (using the wonderful Multi-purpose adhesive sheets to make it REALLY easy!) and it is done. As I said at the beginning, this is really easy.

No Gift is complete without the Tag

Over the past couple of days I have shown you the Gift Box and Card that I made for one of my amazing Team Members who reached her first Quarterly Minimums. But every Gift needs a Tag, right? So now it is time to show you that.

Anyone who knows me knows that I think the way you wrap a present is almost as important as the present itself, possibly more so. If you spend time choosing the perfect gift for someone, why not spend time wrapping it perfectly too? That means including a Tag as well as a Card.

Tags are also a perfect way of using up little scraps of card and paper, so why not put those pieces to good use. This tag uses up some of the off cuts from the base of the box I made and a scrap of Whisper White, which I always have a pile of.

It is really easy to get a pretty shape to your tag if you use the Scallop Tag Topper Punch; it does all the work for you, just leaving you to round the corners at the bottom with any corner rounder (and of course the Envelope Punch Board has one of those too). Some simple stamping, a few embellishments add a short piece of the pretty Silver Baker's Twine from teh new Spring/Summer Catalogue and the Tag is done. Simple but effective.

Oh, and did I mention that the Stamp Set was FREE!

Team Gifts and Cards give me Joy

Wrapping a gift is great fun, but so is making the card. Yesterday you saw me do the former, so today it is time to make the card.

Now you will have to forgive me, but I did have a bit of a senior moment part way through the video. I would have put money on having used the double sided adhesive sheet on the Glimmer Paper, but I clearly didn't, as you will see.

I did enjoy pulling lots of bright colours and using the FREE dies from the Sale-a-bration catalogue for the wording.

I am really quite pleased with the result, particularly as I know the recipient well, so knew she will appreciate the thought.

Team Gifts are a fantastic part of my Business

Yesterday I told you how I welcome new members to my team, but I do so much more than that.

One of the best events for me is when one of my Team hits a Milestone. 

Whether that is a first Milestone of hitting their first quarterly minimum or something more, like promoting, it will be time for a celebration and a gift from me.

Today starts the process of putting together a gift package for one of my Team who has just hit her first quarterly minimum. I have put together a little pack of goodies and want to make a box to present them in. She loves Unicorns and Mermaids, so the Myths and Magic Suite were an obvious choice.

I chose the Mermaid paper, which is more a lightweight card, and matched it with Berry Burst Cardstock and Finely Woven Ribbon. I measured the dimensions I needed for the box base and sides and used these to calculate the size of card. In this case I needed the base of the box to be 6 x 5" (15 x 12.5) and the sides to be 2" (5cm). This meant I needed my card to be 10 x 9" (25 x 22.5cm)

As this is a box with a lid, I wanted to make sure that they were a snug fit, but not too tight. To do this I find it easiest to just trim 1/16" (1.5mm) from the top and side of the base. I then scored each side on my Simply Scored Board at 2" (5cm), turning it each time. The lid was scored at 7/8" and 2" (2.25 x 5cm) to allow for the lid to be reinforced.

Having constructed the box it was then a simple case of filling it with my signature yellow tissue paper and the present before tying it all together with ribbon and a bow.
