Home Life Welcome Card - #105

I have been looking forward to making something with the Home Life Bundle, and I now have the perfect excuse, the Global Design Project Colour Challenge. This week we are using Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party; an interesting mix of colours, but I think I have smashed it!

Home Life Welcome Card in shades of PinkHome Life Welcome Card in shades of blue

My main concern was that Berry Burst is a very strong colour against the other two, but I think the key is to not use too much and to use a 2nd generation for some of the stamping. Modesty aside, I am very pleased with the result. On the video I have used a more traditional colour scheme with Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz. Both versions use clear embossing, but with coloured ink - watch the video for how to get great results with this.

I have listed all of the items I used, but don't panic about the long list too much, because it is for BOTH cards!

Tranquil Tulips Thank You Cards - #104

Sometimes it feels as if the world is conspiring against you, and getting the video for this post is one of those times. It took me three attempts to get the whole thing shot. Fortunately, as these are the cards I will be sending out to anyone who placed an online order with me in June, I need a few, so it could be worse.
Hand Stamped Card using Tranquil Tulips Hostess Stamp Set from Stampin Up

I love the Hostess Sets Stampin' Up! bring us with each catalogue. They are only available FREE with Stampin' Rewards, and even then, they are subsidised, so amazing value. The Tranquil Tulips is a case in point. If it was available as a standard retail item, it would cost £14, but as it is a special set that you can only buy with Stampin' Rewards, it is only £9 of those rewards (which are free anyway!)

One of the benefits of this particular stamp set is that to get the special watercolour effect, you don't need to 'stamp off' any of the stamps, you just ink them up in your chosen colour and the stamps do all the hard (yea, right, hard - not) work for you.

I am really enjoying playing with this set and I think it could be one that I offer as a special prize sometime soon! Watch my YouTube Channel to see news on that! If you have not already subscribed, why not? get that sorted out now!

If you need any of the items I used and are in the UK, please shop with me, pretty please!!! I look after all my customers really well and would love to add you to my special VIP Group so you can see what that feels like. Just make sure you use the Hostess Code if your order is over £25, but under £150 (excluding P&P in both cases). If your order is over £150 you become your own Hostess, so get to pick your own free gifts - you will still be added to my VIP Group if you shop with me, so all is good with that.

I look forward to welcoming lots of VIPs to this exclusive group very soon.

Love Today Planner Kit - First Month Set Up #103

It has taken me a little longer than I had intended, but here is my set up for the wonderful 'Love Today Planner'. I have only completed the July set up, and I already know that I need to tweak a couple of things, so I am pleased I did not do the whole thing in one go.

The main things I have done are to schedule the things I MUST do with my business, add in Birthdays and generally go through how my life works to try to get a bit more control and time management into it. I definite 'Wish' is to actually spend some time with my wonderful husband. Since I stopped my full time job, which involved four hours of travel each day, his standard line to everyone is that he sees less of me now than when I was working for someone else! This must change and the Planner will help with that.

The main things I have added to the planner are the Tabs for Everything stamp set, which is perfect for EVERY planner, not just the Stampin' Up! one, and some Washi Tape that matches the Planner. As with all Stampin' Up! Products, there is a list of the colours used in the catalogue and on the information that comes with it, so you can match perfectly every time. The Tabs for Everything Stamps have lots of small icons (many of them are 2-step, so even more fun) small words and phrases and a great selection of fonts. The Washi Tape I have used comes from Sets 2 and 3, so the Green/Yellow and Blue/Aqua sets.

There are so many things I already like about the Planner, but one that stands out for me is the quality of the paper. I have used a few planners before and one of the main issues I have had with them is that if you stamp in them the images bleed through to the other side of the page, which is not just annoying, it is unacceptable and is one reason why I have not had much joy using them. No such issue with this Planner, even using juicy ink pads and 2-step stamping.

I will record a further video later in July to show how I have got on with actually using the Planner and to report in on any changes I will make to how I am using it. But so far, this is just the best Planner I have come across in a very long time; I am hooked!

I still have a few places left on my Paper Share and Paper Sample packs, so if you want to get ALL the new patterned papers, please see the details here:

Remember this only runs until  until 14th July 2017, so act soon if you want it ALL.

Ronald McDonald House Charities - Card Challenge

Today sees the start of this challenge. Stampin' Up! UK will celebrate its 10th Birthday this year, so has challenged us Demonstrators to make 10,000 cards over 2 long weekends, this being the first.

I have made a couple of fairly straightforward cards for the event using the Sharing Sweet Thoughts stamp set, which Stampin' Up! designed specifically to support RMHC, donating £2 of every sale to the charity. Since Stampin' Up! first started to make these charity sets, they have raised over US$1.5 million through the sales alone, which is fantastic.

My events are today and tomorrow, both from 10 am until 4 pm, so if you are in the area and have a few minutes to spare, please drop in, you will be very welcome. Full details are on my Business Facebook page here:

Two of the cards for the event are in the picture above, wither side of the card I make in the video, which is not that complicated, but will take a little longer than is ideal for this event.

Graceful Garden #101

I know I have already told you how delighted I was to be sent this stamp set, but I really, really am.

Simple Graceful Garden Card - for you

I was thinking of using this as one of the cards for my Ronald McDonald House Charities Card Making Challenge, for which we are using the #SUBirthdayWishesUK and #SU10000cardsUK, so keep your eyes peeled for more Social Media using those tags.

I am still not convinced one way or the other about whether to include this card, so we will see. But it is a quick card to make, using minimal supplies, so does fit the brief for the event. It seems appropriate to take the photos for this card in the garden, so I did!

What do you think, should I include this card in the challenge or not?

Daisy Delight #100

WOW! 100 videos that is amazing, and almost 1,000 Subscribers to my channel. I am blown away.

Bright Daisy Delight Thank You Card

I have to thank SwallowTailPapercrafts for the original idea for this card, which I found on Pinterest, the home of so many amazing ideas. I must also apologies for using a punch that is currently not Orderable (did you know that was a word?!). Stampin' Up! made 10,000 of this punch, which was reasonable given that most punches sell 7,000 units in the first twelve month. However, in the pre-order period Demonstrators ordered 7,200, so it is not surprising that when the General Public were able to order, this product sold out within no time at all.

BUT, you may already have the punch, or it may be on your wish list for buying later in the year, so I am happy to share this project with you.

There is a tip for using the punch with the stamp, so watch my video for that!

I really like the design, I just wish I had thought of it first!! I also like the fresh colours, a bit different from the 'expected'.

As a special treat, for me really, the photos of today's cards were taken in our garden in the amazing sunshine.

Wood Word Trio - #99

I wasn't sure about the Wood Texture Papers when I first saw them, in fact I decided that they would never get into my craft room; clearly I changed my mind at some point, and I am delighted I did, because I love them. They are a lot more versatile than I thought they would be and, as you will see from the cards I made today, they can embrace masculinity, femininity and all points in between!

wood words stamp, wood textures paper

These cards each take just one piece of the 6x6 paper, but use both sides. As Stampin' Up! designed them with coordinating patterns on each side, this means you get a subtle difference, but one that still works really well.

I am really pleased with how each of the cards looks just that little bit different and uses up pretty much the whole of the sheet without that slightly annoying strip left over. My favourite? I think it has to be the one I made on camera. I love that paper I thought was only going to be for men, has made a really pretty, soft card.

Please note that there is a LONG, LONG list of supplies as I have listed everything I used for ALL three cards, so it really is not that bad - honest!!!

Happy Father's Day

I was going to start this post with a statement about Father's Day being 'invented' by Commercial Card Manufacturers as a way to sell more cards, but, as I have spent significant amounts of my working life in a research role, I did a quick Google search first. Just as well. Did you know that it certainly dates back to the Middle Ages and was then celebrated on St Joseph's day (which makes sense from a Christian point of view). In the UK it did not become popular until well after the Second World War, but it is now well established and on the most popular day globally, being the third Sunday in June.

So after the history lesson, here is the card I have made for my Father. I have used papers from the Wood Textures 6x6 stack on a Chocolate Chip A5 card base (A4 folded in half), a Crumb Cake mat, cut to be 1/2" smaller than the base, then the paper cut down to 1/2" narrower than the Crumb Cake, but still the full 6" height. I die cut a crate base from another piece of Wood Textures paper, cut that down so it was only slightly proud of the card (attached with Dimensionals). The stamped sentiment is from the Ribbon of Courage set, stamped in Chocolate Chip.

Wood Textures Paper with Wood Crates Die cut

The 'PA' is in Copper Foil and set on a Lots of Labels die cut, using the off cut of paper from cutting the crate. I stamped a border of Hardwood on the inside in Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake for dimension.
Wood Textures Paper with Wood Crates Die cut

I am really pleased with how it turned out, and it was really quite quick to put together, but I must apologise for the number of die sets I used, three is just showing off!

Whole Lot of Lovely - #98

As soon as I saw the new catalogue I knew I was going to love this Suite and when I then got the chance to see it up close at the Demonstrator only event, OnStage, in Amsterdam in April, it was confirmed. The colours are so striking, the contrast of the dark colours against the softer shades just did it for me. Add the stamp set, which has really bold images and I am in heaven.

Whole lot of lovely paper, lots of love stamps

The card I made was one that I had planned, but not made before I shot the video. I enjoy just going with the flow occasionally, and because Stampin' Up! products coordinate so well together I am always confident that whatever I plan within a Suite it WILL work.

This card was a fine example of this and I am really pleased with how it turned out. It does involve heat embossing and I am aware that not everyone is confident with that technique, but I have some news on that. I am planning a few themed videos and blog posts over the next few months, one of which will probably address some techniques in detail, with some beginners hints and tips; one of the techniques will definitely be heat embossing as it is such a great technique.
