Chinese Fruit Box style Handbag Gift Box

Do you think I have enough descriptions in the heading? When I first saw a picture of this box I knew I had to track down who made it and how to replicate it.

Happily the lady in question has both a blog and a YouTube Channel. She calls herself Mixed Up Craft and her projects are amazing. This Bag looks complicated, and to be honest it is not that straight forward, but once you get the hang of it, you will be able to make loads of them with ease. I am going to see if I can change the dimensions and make different sizes, which I think could be really cute.

Both of the bags I have made are using retiring products, all of which are/were available at the point I shot the video, but as with all retiring itmes, they are only availble while stocks last, so if you want any of them, please jump over to my online store and fill your baskets. Two Pieces of Cardstock - 8-1/4 x 11"
Two Pieces of Designer Series Paper - 6-7/8 x 3-1/8
Two Pieces of Ribbon - 10"

Score each of the pieces of cardstock as follows:
Long Side at top of Simply Scored Score Board - 3-1/2 and 10-1/2"
Short Side at top and the narrow scored piece at the bottom - 3-1/2 and 6-3/4"
Rotate card so the other short edge is at the top and score at 3/4" to the second score line only
Long Side with the last scored line at the top - 1 and 2-1/2 to first score line ONLY, then mark down from this first score line on the edge of the card and the next vertical score line, at 1-1/4". Join these marks (score) to the bottom of each of the vertical lines you have just put in. Find the middle of these vertical lines too and mark 3/4" up and down from this point.

Seriously, you need to watch the video, it really is not this difficult!!

April Craft Box - Memories and More Memories

Anyone who has known me for any length of time will know that I am passionate about Memory Keeping. Particularly in the age of digital everything, I believe it is vital that we record not only the milestones of our lives, but also the mundane and everyday. It is our gift to future generations. 

My April Craft Box has a mix of Designer Series Paper and Memories & More cards, along with lots of other products. I made a deliberate choice to include the cards both to for those who may find stamping a bit of a challenge, but also for those interested in Memory Keeping. Today I bring you a very quick 6 x 8" Pocket Page to you. This records Midsummer Morning a couple of years ago. It is simple and uncluttered, but is perfect as an introduction of just how easy it is to put these pages together. And it is a reminder that summer will be with us soon, I hope!

I always encourage people to record their thought about the event in their own handwriting, no matter how untidy it may be, it is part of you and part of social history. Just take a look at how handwriting has changed in the past 100 years, but also look at how your writing has changed in the past 20.

Such an easy page to put together, but a great little record of an event that at the time was very special, but could pass into the back of my mind if I did not take the few moments to record it.

April Craft Box Notecard

Hello again. Welcome back, I hope you are enjoying seeing some projects made with the contents of this month's Craft Box.

Today I have a Note Card for you using some of the optional extras available as add-ons, this time the dies, stamps (best bought as a bundle, saving 10% on the combined price) and the embossing folders.

It is a cute card, quick and easy to make, just a few die cuts, some quick stamping and some embossing. I have added some stamping to the inside of the card and the envelope; I think it adds so much to the project to have it all tie toegether.

I love the subtlty of the monochrome with just a hint of colour using the Powder Pink, nothing too gaudy, but lifting the starkness of just Black and White.

Petal Passion Craft Box Project With Memories & More

Welcome back! Did you find yesterday's Blog Hop interesting? I do hope you enjoyed all the projects, and boy there were lots to look at!

Today I am sharing the first of my projects using the April Craft Box goodies. I am loving just how quickly you can put a card together without the need to get any stamps inky, but still have a great sentiment on the outside and the indide of your card.

I used the Blender Pen with Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist to colour the floral image. I love how you can get some shading with the Blender Pen, just by not over inking it. I cut both the floral card and the card I used for the inside, down to my usual measurements (see below for those) and glued them to a standard A6 Basic Black Cardbase. 

I trimmed out the sentiment from one of the smaller cards, saving the other piece for another project. I 'flagged' the end of the sentiment and then adhered it towards the bottom of the card with some dimensionals, added a few Pearls and the card was done. Really quick, really easy!

Birthday Wit Rainbow Surprise

I have finally fallen for the Rainbow trend, and I mean big time. I seem to be using the the rainbow colours on so many projects and I love it, why did I wait so long to jump on board?

I have spotted that there are a few birthdays coming up in my diary, so it is time to get a wiggle on and make cards for them. I admit that if there is more than one birthday in a fortnight I will generally make the same card for each person, so having a design that works for everyone is a good thing to have in your arsenal of ideas; this is one of those projects.

I was looking at the Birthday Wit stamp set for a while, and was really amused by the sentiments, but it has finally got to the top of my Wish List and I am using it quite a bit. What I have to admit though, is that the Petal Pair Embossing Folders have been in my craft room since my first pre-order and I have only just broken them out of their package! Why didn't I use them sooner, they are fantastic.

I have continued the idea of 'Wit' with this card by making the outside really clean and simple, but with a burst of colour on the inside; I just hope the recipients get my subtle joke!

Party Panda Tea Time

I found a couple of pieces of Petal Passion Designer Series Paper on my Craft Desk and decided they were crying out to be part of a new project.

The pieces were the same size, 6-1/2 x 3-1/4, so I looked in my draw of goodies to see what work with the paper and found a couple of fruit tea bags, just the right size to work with the paper.

Being black and white, I instantly thought of the Party Panda. I brought in Crushed Curry to match the tea bags. So a few score lines, a little punching and some stamping; tie the whole thing up in a ribbon and it is finished.

These really do make a cute gift and they are so quick and easy to put together, particularly if you make them right, unlike my first attempt!

Petal Passion Bright and Pretty Card for any Occasion

I stamped some images on Shimmer White Card in Memento Black Ink ages ago, ready to colour with my amazing Stampin Blends. I just forgot to do anything with the images!!

But I have finally got round to sorting our a card and I am really pleased with how it turned out. I gathered a few products together, turned on the camera and put them together to make this card. You can watch my thought process and see how easy it was in the video.

I seem to be going through a phase of just getting on with creating. Whether it is because I have had an enforced break and the creative juices are just flowing, or whether I am just more focused I don't know, I just hope it hangs around for a while, it makes me so much more productive!

Have you got any bits and pieces that you prepared 'just in case', but you still need to use? Go on, give it a go. You know you want to.

Oh, and I mention in my video that I am beginning to say goodbye to some of my favourite InColours before it is too late. Inspire Create Challenge #011 - It's Sketch Time!

Many apologies for having been 'Missing In Action' for a while. I am hoping I am back on track and crafty goodness will flow again now.

Just my luck to get food poisoning and flu one week after the other, and just as I had got myself reasonably ahead with my blog and YouTube. But enough of that, you want to know about the new Inspire Create Challenge.

This week we have a sketch to inspire you and to get the crafty mojo flowing. To be honest, I had forgotten that I was due to submit a design this week, my brain has really gone into slow mode, so I was a little concerned that I would struggle to get something put together, but do you know, it took less than an hour to come up with the idea, make the project and take the photos; don't you love it when that happens!

I know I shouldn't say it, but I am absolutely thrilled with the idea too. Using the Black and White Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and colouring in a strip across the middle with Stampin' Blends just works. Then add the die cut, and it all came together. I used the middle of the Silver Foil Matt for my die-cutting, so there was nothing wasted. It is an age since I used Rich Razzleberry, and I can tell you, it is starting a bit of a trend for me, so watch our for more of that very soon.

Petal Passion Memories and More Card - #276

I love the Petal Passion Memories and More Cards from Stampin' Up! but I am not sure we all remember the 'and More' bit. We happily use them for a few scrapbooks and then leave them in their little box. Well that's fine if you just want to collect them and look at them, but why not actually use them on your cards, that is what they are for after all.

They are particularly great if you need to put a really quick card together. Just pick your card, mount it on a matt and maybe add a stamped sentiment and you are done! There is an added bonus at the moment of course. If you spend at least £45 in my online shop, you get to choose a FREE item from the Sale-a-Bration Catalogue.
