It really is not too difficult, but I know that some people are not aware of this. The key is to make sure your stamp is 'relaxed' when you attach it to your clear block. Now I don't mean that that it should have its legs up with a cool drink! What I do mean is that it should be placed image down on a matt surface and left to 'relax'. With the stamp still on the surface, place the clear block over it to pick it up.
Magic! It is the right shape and will marry up with the other elements of a 2-Step stamp perfectly.
