Top Tip Tuesday Two Step Stamping - #176

When I first put a call out for requests for Tips, one of my lovely customers asked for some help with 2 Step Stamps. I suddenly realised that although I have shown you how to use them in a number of videos, I have not actually gone through my thought process as a 'Top Tip', that is being rectified today.

The first thing to understand is that there are two styles of 2 Step Stamps. Those that are an outline and a filler, such as the Hug in a Mug or Merry Patterns sets, and what I think of as 'true' 2 step stamps where you are building up layers of colour to provide the final image, such as Baby Bear and Fabulous Flamingo; it is these latter ones that I am looking at.

My absolute Top Tip is that, whatever the packaging may suggest, the order you should stamp these in is from darkest colour to lightest. There are two reasons, firstly by doing this, it softens the edges of the darker ink, which give a smoother finish to the final look, but more importantly, it means that you can actually see where you are stamping. Trying to line up a lighter image with a darker image is way easier than trying to see a light image through a stamp inked up with a dark colour.

I hope you found this helpful. For a chance to win the Merry Patterns stamp set, all you need to do is shop with me and for every £25 (excluding P&P), or multiple thereof between now and the end of October, you will receive an entry. Spend £50 and get two entries, but if you place once £30 order and one £20 order you will only get one entry, so make sure you have your Wish List full first!!

Would you like a FREE Christmas Stamp Set? If you place an order in my online store using the Hostess Code below, you will be entered to win the Merry Patterns Stamp set, which is only available if you place any order of at least £250. BUT I have at least one to give away to one of my wonderful customers. You will get an entry for every £25 you spend with me between 1 September and 30 October 2017 (spend £50 for two entries, £75 for three etc.) Want to see the set? Here it is, as it is a 2-step set, it is in Photopolymer:
