Ikea Jumbo Tealights take a trip to an Eastern Palace

Well that is a convoluted title to a blog post, or a very descriptive one, depending on your view I guess.

Today's project is one that I am mass producing for a May Fair in a village near to us next weekend - if you live in the Didcot/Abingdon area of South Oxfordshire, drop in to North Moreton on Sunday 7th May between 2pm and 4pm to join in all the fun and have a chat. It would be great to see you.

So this is a little box for an Ikea Jumbo Tealight, but would work for most Jumbo Tealights. there are minimal supplies, although it does use items from the new Eastern Palace Suite, which you can get in one of two Bundles available from tomorrow!! More details of those further down this post.

So, here is the video, complete with what is left of my voice, and a cough!

It is a really simple box to construct and the measurements are (sorry, Imperial only - my bring hurts too much to convert today!):

Lid - 4-3/8 x 4-3/8" scored on each side at 1"
Base - 4-5/16 x 4-5/16", also scored on each side at 1"
Ribbon - 10"

You will need a scrap of cardstock for the die-cutting, and a tiny scrap of foil for the centre of the die-cut, punched with the 1/2" circle punch.

So the really exciting news about the Eastern Palace Suite Bundles. The full suite will be available for customers once the catalogue goes live on 1st June, but the Starter and Premier Bundle are available from tomorrow, 1st May until 31st May. The really import thing to note is that both bundles include some FREE items, but that if you want the FREE items, you will have to order the Bundles before 31st May, because they will not be available in this format after that date. Both Bundles also include three of the five new In Colours!!

Click on the picture to see the full details:

If you are thinking of buying the Premier Bundle (and who wouldn't), PLEASE stop and think before you buy. WHY!! Because you would be better to buy the Starter Kit. Seriously, for just 5p more, you can get the Starter Kit for £99 (which includes free P&P, rather than having to pay £4.95 on top of the bundle), but add a further £31.00 of product. The maths makes the choice an easy one. Pay £98.95 (£94.00 + £4.95 P&P) for just the Premier Bundle, which is great value, OR make the wise choice and pay £99 to get £130 of product of your choice and then get the chance to order from the new catalogue in May at a DISCOUNT.

Bike Ride to two Birthdays

When my husband and I moved into our current home just over two years ago, we did not expect in a village of under 1,000 people to find that there was someone how was almost EXACTLY the same age as either of us. The odds that there would be someone who had the same birth date were not unreasonable, but to find that one of our, now, friends was born the day before my husband was a little unexpected. But there you go, life is always ready to surprise you.

Given the proximity of the birthdays, I thought it would be fun to make similar cards for them both, so I have made a male and female version of the card using the 'All Attendee' Stamp set we were given at OnStage Live in Amsterdam. As my husband and I love to cycle, it seemed the perfect set to choose (not sure if our friend owns a bike!). I have used four of the new In Colours too and am loving them. I was not sure about Lemon Lime Twist, but it brings a real zing to our colour choices and I can see that I will be using it a lot.

I have used Designer Series Papers from Falling in Love and Serene Scenery Stack. The Serene Scenery is still available as I write this, but is showing as Low Inventory, so if you want it, you know what to do!!

Remember that from Monday you are able to buy some Bundles from the Eastern Palace Suite. They are both fantastic value, as they include FREE items. they also include three of the new In Colours, so you can get your hands on them a month early. Click on the picture to see the choices available:

Sunshine Sayings - Oh So Simple

Sometimes all you need is a simple card with very few supplies and today is that day for me.

This card uses one stamp set, two ink pads, an enamel shape, a punch and a short piece of ribbon, which could be changed out for a thin strip of cardstock if you don't have the ribbon.

The Sunshine Sayings stamp set has so many great words on it that can be mixed together to make all kinds of greetings, plus some that are already complete. Many of the words will fit into the Classic Label Punch, so really easy to use.

I like the combination of Peekaboo Peach and Pear Pizzazz, particularly in the Spring as they do zing nicely together. I stamped the Flower, Stem and Leaves at full strength and the scribble background at second generation, just to add a little 'something' to the general effect. An added bonus is that both colours of cardstock are available in a mixed pack, so you only have to buy one! Then just add the Whisper White and you are done.

I hope you like this quick and easy card. I have listed the supplies and dimensions below.

The Starter Kit is ALWAYS great value just £99 for your choice of £130 of products (with no additional P&P). As you are allowed to chose items from the Retired List and the Clearance Rack, even though they may be at a discount, you can get even more for your money. You will also get a small supply of catalogues to share with your friends and family. You will then be able to order from the new catalogue in May at a DISCOUNT, and let me tell you, having seen the new catalogue already, you are going to want it all, so you need that discount!!

Swirly Bird Notelet - So Cute!

Of all the projects I have made so far with the Swirly Bird Bundle, this has to be the cutest. It is CASEd from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. 'CASEd?' I hear you say. Copy And Share Everything. This is a great way of getting some inspiration and is something we all do to one degree or another, the key is to make sure that you credit the person you got the inspiration from.

I really think this notelet is perfect if you want to add something a little more than a tag to a gift, particularly if you make a little envelope to put it in, then you can add a really personal message without worrying that everyone will be able to see it.

At just 3" square (7.5 cm) it is a tiny card, which is part of its charm. Because it is so small, it is perfect for using up a few scraps, and we all have those lying around.

Global Design Project #084 - Case Designer Michelle Last - AND CLEARANCE RACK NEWS

What a great week for the GDP Challenge. Casing a Design by my lovely Team Leader, Michelle Last.
As a quick reminder, to CASE a design, is to Copy And Share Everything. So we are aloud to take as much or as little of the original design as the inspiration for our version. I have taken the general layout and the dry embossed background, but that is pretty much all.

Unfortunately, having made this card earlier in the week, most of the items have now sold out, but the stamps and matching punch are still available and are carrying over into the 2017-18 Catalogue, so will be around for another year of weddings. Bearing in mind how quickly items are selling, run to the Retirement Lists NOW (links below) and the newly updated Clearance Rack, with some 12x12 Designer Series Papers from £4 and 6x6 from £2.90!!!! and many, many more AMAZING bargains.

Don't even think about it, just fill your shopping basket NOW.

Remember that you can include discounted items in your Starter Kit for even more value for money. Just do the Maths, you could get well over £200 of product for just £99 including postage and packing. There is no obligation to hold parties or run classes, you can just join for the discount if that is what suits you right now. If you want more information, please call me for a chat, with no pressure at all.

I hope you have enjoyed today's project.

Window Shopping Mini Series - getting there!

Today I have another example of how to use this amazing bundle, although today's project only uses the stamps.

This is a very easy card that uses Designer Series Paper as the background for the stamping; in fact I stamped on the Designer Series Paper, so really easy. I used one of the square, patterned, stamps to form a strip across the paper, added some ruched ribbon top and bottom and then a stamped sentiment in the middle of all of that. Easy, quick and minimal supplies.

The Designer Series Paper is from the Falling in Love Suite and was the jumping off point for the colours I used. I picked out the Crumb Cake and Sweet Sugar Plum with Very Vanilla. Although the neutral in the paper is actually Sahara Sand, the pattern of paper I used had some of the darker tones of Crumb Cake, so I went with this.

I would love to see your take on this card. Would you use the same papers or would you try a different Suite?

Window Shopping Mini Series - sort of continues

I have already featured a number of projects using the Window Shopping Bundle from the Spring Summer Catalogue, but today sees another. I think this is a great way of featuring the hexagonal die, but is also really quick and easy to do. Just a bit of die cutting, a few swirls of ink and you are pretty much done.

The sample I made in advance of the video featured Rich Razzleberry, but the one I have filmed is Elegant Eggplant, with the matching ink, together with Rose Red, Crushed Curry and Perfect Plum, so all from the Regals Colour Family. Remember that if you buy the full set of any of the colour families you save money, which is always good!

I used the Shimmery White Cardstock for the colour washed piece, but you could use Watercolour card instead; I would NOT recommend the Whisper White as you will need quite a lot of water.

I hope you like these projects as much as I do. What colour combinations would you use?

My Pre-Order has arrived and I am very excited to share all the wonderful products I have got with you. In the video you will see me un-box the delivery and go through what I ordered and why. This includes some items from the current catalogues that will be available in the new one, but at a higher price. Whilst customers are not able to order items from the new catalogue until 1 June, you may want to order the existing items at the lower price NOW!

And I have some very exciting news for anyone who would like to get their hands on new products BEFORE 1 June.

One of the suites I ordered part of in my Pre-order was the Eastern Palace Suite. The inspiration for this was Peacocks, and you will see from the video that this inspiration has carried over into the final collection. The papers include one each of two gold foiled sheets, as well as two sheets each of five double sided sheets. The stamps and Framelits are a MUST, particularly if you are a fan of doilies - you will be able to make your own with multiple options of what they look like. So why do I mention this? Well, from Monday 1 May, Customers will be able to purchase some very special bundles including these products AND some of the new In Colour ink pads. More information on this on Monday, including how to get additional discounts for buying these.

But, if this is not what you are looking for, you will also be able to get your hands on new products AT A DISCOUNT and there are some great ways to do this and get new products AT A DISCOUNT.

First is to sign up NOW, making sure you include any Bundles that you may want from the 2016 - 17 Catalogue, so that if they are carrying over you get them at the discounted price, therefore get even more for your £99. If you sign up before the end of April, you will get the usual £130 of Products, plus the chance to place a pre-order after 2nd May AT A DISCOUNT.

If you sign up between 2 and 31 May, you will get both 2016 - 17 AND 2017 - 18 Catalogues 8 of each!). You will also be able to include items from the Demonstrator Pre-Order List in your Starter Kit (contact me after 2 May for details of these).

Please contact me to have a conversation about whether becoming a Demonstrator is the right thing for you. Remember you DO NOT have to Demonstrate if you don't wish to; you can sign up just so you get the discount for your purchases. But if you want to make this a business, then that is great too, and I will be very happy to help you get started with that.

St George's Curvy Dragon

Today is St George's day. By tradition, St George is remembered as having slain a dragon, so I thought I would have a bit of fun with that idea today. So this is my take on some punch art on a Curvy Box.

The Curvy box die has to be one of the most versatile that we have; it can be used for so many projects, and seems to be most people's 'go to' style for punch art projects, because of the shape I am sure. Unfortunately it is on the Retirement List, so if you want it before it goes....

I have only used two punches for this project - the Bow Builder and the Owl Builder. The Bow Builder seemed like the perfect choice for the flames and ears and the Owl Builder has so many sizes of circle, it was perfect for all of the features. I have added a couple of extra panels on the sides in Whisper White, with some thin strips of Real Red - I mean you have to have a George Cross somewhere on a St George's day project, don't you?

I hope you have fun with this little project. Why not try making a few more animals with this box, the possibilities are endless.

Swirly Kites up High

This is the second project I am bringing you which uses the Swirly Bird Stamp Set. This one was a little scary to put together as I did it as 'live', with no preparation and just a very rough idea of what I was going to do. I think if I were to do it again I might add a third colour, but as yesterday's project was ink heavy, I wanted to restrict myself for today's card.

I think I am happy with how it turned out, although the middle kite does not show the two colours very well, so maybe the problem is not to use a third colour, but to have used colours that were further apart in tone and shade. But I do like the colour combination, so who knows! The colours are Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy, which are both 2016-2018 InColours, so I have listed the set in the product list below, as this saves you money on buying them each separately; always worth remembering.

Anyway, a quick and easy card for a Saturday morning! Grab a cup of coffee and a couple of ink pads and give it a go. Let me know how you get on and which colours you have used.

Swirly Boats - I hope you are a good sailor!

I only bought the Swirly Bird Bundle recently. Originally I had not got my head around it, but now I can see so many possibilities for great and fun cards.

Today's card is a fun and simple card, which I accept does use a LOT of colours of ink, but I work on the basis that once you have the ink pads you really should use them. If you don't have all the colours I have used, you could use a smaller number and just do more two generation stamping to get the additional shades. You could probably stamp the boat using three generations on blue and then just the hint of red to add that little 'pop' of colour. Although I have got the full bundle, this card only uses the stamps; the boat is cut by hand and is simple enough to do.

There are 24 stamps in this set, so it really is great value and if you keep an eye on my blog for a while, you will see some more projects coming up using the set in different ways. Almost a mini series!

Touches of Texture Options

Well what a heading! There are just so many options with this fantastic stamp set, which we now know will be with us for another year at least. This is no surprise to me at all as it is so versatile, but I do wonder if I am ever going to be able to cover all the options available. I mean, this is a Two Box Set!! There are 15 stamps, most of them a really good size, but still perfect for smaller projects, I mean this is just a fantastic set!

Today's project is another one inspired by the Global Design Project Colour Challenge earlier this month. I have added Bermuda Bay to the sample I made before the video and Watermelon Wonder to the one I made in the video. In both I have made the project more straightforward, leaving out the embossing folder and extending the square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits, although these dies do still feature.

The sentiments are from Lovely You and Window Shopping, but you could use any sentiment you like. I used the smallest of the Circle Dies from the Stitched Shapes and layered this on the 1-1/2" Circle Punch.

I hope you like these. If you would like to have a go, hop over to my online store and get the items you need to do so delivered to your door. Post pictures of your makes on Facebook and tag me, so I can see your versions.

Floral Rose is Oh so Pretty

Since the Global Design Project Colour Challenge a wee while ago, I seem to be in a bit of a Night of Navy, Whisper White and Pick any other Colour trend. This time I pulled out some of the Floral Bouquet Designer Series Papers and matching Floral Phrases Stamp Set and decided that I would try them with Rose Red. This has been one of my favourite colours since I joined Stampin' Up! I think it is the mix of pink and red that does it for me.

Night of Navy is a perfect foil for the Rose Red, which precisely for the reason I like it, can be a difficult colour to blend as it sits between the red and blue spectrum of pink.

I hope you like this really simple card. If you want to make it too, hop over to my online store and get the items you need to do so delivered to your door
