Bike Ride with the Bike - #133

As most of you know, I record my videos and write my blog posts in advance, sometimes not far in advance, but in advance none the less. When you read this I am hoping that my husband and I will have had a great day celebrating a friend's birthday at a picnic in West London. We are planning on taking our bikes on the train and then cycling from there to the picnic site. However, whether we will be battling wind and rain or high temperatures, this summer we really don't know.

As our friend is also a fan of cycling, it seemed appropriate that I should make her a bike themed Birthday Card, so here it is, complete with a present in the basket. Or should I give her the blue bike with the dog on the back? Hmmmmm, the pink and flowers I think.

Flourishing Phrases for a Subtle Sunday - #132

I am really enjoying this series of videos, I love to see just how different I can make a card design, whilst still staying true to the concept of only using the Subtles Collection. I think I may have cracked the brightest and most subtle for this project.

The first card uses Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz, both for the inks and the cardbase and layering mat; it really is quite bright and striking, particularly with the addition of the Calypso Coral Sheer Ribbon. The second card only uses Whisper White and Blushing Bride card, so automatically a much calmer feel, with second generation Pear Pizzazz and both full and second generation Blushing Bride, this time with the really pretty Double Stitched Ribbon. Add a bit of Wink of Stella, and you have the perfect cards!

I like them both, but I am really pleased that they show the variety within the colour family, one that I think is quite a surprise.

Lovely Shaker on Saturday - #131

I really enjoyed making today's card. It was specifically requested by one of my wonderful VIPs, so here it is, just for her, some Lovely Hugs.

I have used the Lovely Inside & Out Bundle with the matching shaped framelits, added some very contrasting Designer Series Papers to get two very different looks. The shaker elements are the Sequin Assortments in the Annual Catalogue, I love that there are the two colour options but that they both have that special iridescent element.

Lovely Friends on Friday - #130

Today's card is a little different as a Friend's card, but I love it, and as the stamp set is 'Lovely Friends', it seems appropriate.

This actually uses very few products (well for me!) and I love the soft and gentle look of both versions; I hope you agree and will give it a go. The new Ruffled 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder is definitely going to be a favourite of mine. I love the effect it gives, so subtle, but definitely there, adding a little something to the background (helped in this case by a little glitter, which is never a bad thing).

I can see this being used for all sorts of occasions, including wedding, anniversary and birthday. Yes, this is going to become a 'go to' design.

Thank Crunchie it's Thursday!! - #129

I know it is hard for most people to believe, but I can't eat chocolate! A crafter that can't eat chocolate, such a thing was never heard of!!!! But it is true. On the plus side, it means that I can happily design projects that involve wrapping bars of chocolate and have no problem resisting the temptation to eat the contents. I hate it and it hates me. But I know that others like a little bit of temptation, so there you are a little box to gift a mini chocolate bar (other brands are available!!)

Because the wrapper is so clearly 'foiled', I knew I had to pull out my Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is so bold that for me I would not want to use too much at a time as I think it would be a bit overpowering, so a small little box is just perfect. Add a little bit of ribbon and a tiny amount of stamping and you are good to go.

We all have those moments, I sometimes think I have more than most. You have made a fantastic card and all you need to do to finish it off is stick it to a cardbase. Beautiful Peekaboo Bouquet - #126

Welcome to another week, for me that means another week of crafty fun and frolics and not the slog into London that I was doing this time last year. Dandelion Balloon Celebration on Subtle Sunday - #125

Welcome back to Subtle Sunday, the day when we look at a softer palette and a quieter looking project. I found the idea for this on Pinterest, but have not been able to find out who came up with the original idea, otherwise I would like to acknowledge them, although they used a very different palette and included patterned paper, so it does look quite different.

I was surprised when I realised that there were the stamps for the dandelion in this set, they are really hidden in amongst everything else, but they are there and they are so pretty to use. I think this is a set that will be useful for all sorts of occasions, and I have even seen some of the stamps used as 'designer stubble'; seriously!

I really enjoyed making this card, it is so 'simple, but effective', oh and you will notice that I managed to straighten out the Blushing Bride version, in spite of having used Fast Fuse. More on how in a future Top Tip Tuesday.

Are these Cute, or are these Cute? - #124

I am not known for being child friendly, but this Bundle caught me at a moment of weakness, so I had to get it, and I am so pleased that I did; these are the cutest things I have seen in a very long time, so versatile and, did I say they are cute?

The video shows me making the So Saffron/Lion version, but the others are just a cute and easy to make. The one I actually needed to make is the Blushing Bride/Bear version and I added a little piece of the Double Stitched Ribbon to the side of that, just because I could! I am particularly pleased with the effect of the Ruffled Dynamic Texture Impressions Folder, it adds a little something that would have been missing if I had used 'flat' cardstock.

I accept that I have used three sets of Framelits, but I think that you should use what you have, and the Layering Circles and Stitched Shaped Framelits should be added to your stash as staples. Consider Yourself Hugged - #123

Today is Friday!!! What a happy day, and at Old Stables Crafts that means it is a day to acknowledge our Friends. For me that can be anyone, for whatever reason, not just because they have done a good deed for you, or because it is their birthday, but 'just because'.

I wanted to do a slightly different fold today too, and once I had decided on that, the stamp set was obvious, because of the sentiment 'Consider yourself hugged', the card just felt like a hug to me. The card is not difficult to put together and ends up at the 'standard' metric size, so fits our C6 envelopes still.

I do hope you give this fold a try, I think it is such fun and really easy!

Is it a Tag? Is it a Bag? No, it's Thank you Thursday!!

I am so grateful that one of my lovely YouTube Subscribers sent me a little parcel of goodies a little while ago which she thought I might enjoy basing some of my projects around. Today is the second of those items and is a Tab Bag (for want of some better way to describe it!)

This is such a cute little gift wrapping and is ideal for any small item. In this case a trolley token, which is such a useful gift to give.

The project uses very few supplies, being based around a piece of 3 x 6" paper. That means you can get two from a piece of our small stacks, or an amazing eight from a piece of 12 x 12". A few scraps of cardstock a short piece of ribbon and baker's twine and you are done!! Oh, and both the card colours are available in the Colour Theory Cardstock Pack - result!!

I love quick projects like this.

Dimensions
Designer Series Paper - 3 x 6" (7.5 x 15 cm)
With paper in Portrait Orientation, score at 1/2"(1.25 cm) on both long edges (turn the paper round between scores so you know the distance is definitely 1/2"
With the paper in Landscape Orientation, mark at 1-1/2" top and bottom and at each end, score at 2-3/4 and 3-1/4" (7 and 8.25 cm)
