Welcome to Inspire.Create.Challenge - #184

I am so excited to share my first project for the Inspire.Create.Challenge Design Team. I feel honoured to be part of this great group of crafters.

Our Challenge today is a Colour Challenge and is Challenge #001

When Hannah shared this with me I was a little concerned that it is a very limited pallet, but after thinking about it for a few days I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and happily it worked out pretty much as I had envisaged.

I used Watercolour Paper to create the circle (not sure if I see this as a blood moon or a sunset, but you can take your pick), die cut using the largest of the layering circle dies. Using an Aqua Painter I added water to the whole piece, and I mean quite a lot of water. Having dried the Aqua Painter off a bit, I used it to add Calypso Coral Ink and allowed it to move across the circle. While this was drying, I stamped the line of trees from Lovely As A Tree about a third of the way up a piece of Basic Grey Cardstock; I stamped the middle part of this again on the bottom half of the Watercolour Paper circle and then lined the images up, adhering using MultiPurpose Glue. The Cat was coloured using Basic Grey again; I punched a cat from a piece of scrap Whisper White card and used the negative as a mask to sponge Basic Grey ink through with a sponge dauber before punching this out. A quick sentiment from You're Delightful mounted on Calypso Coral Card stock and we were done.

Dimensions:
Cardbase A5 folded in half to form and A6 base
Whisper White mat – 5-5/8 x 3-7/8” (14.25 x 9.75cm)
Basic Grey mat – 5-1/2 x 3-3/4” (14 x 9.5cm)

    1. Hi Sue, Thank you. When Hannah told us what the first challenge would be I think we all took a deep breath, but I am delighted with how this turned out. Lx

  3. Hi Liz, I love your card especially your shading of the cat with the sponge through the negative before punching. Genius!

  4. I love this color combo and you did well by it. When I first saw the image of the reddish moon, I thought, "oh no, they're having wildfires there, too!" This is what our sun looks like when it's rising and setting when there's lots of smoke in the air. Thankfully, the fires are either burning themselves out or are under control. You can never go wrong with Lovely as a Tree thrown into the mix, can you? Congratulations on your design team entry. It's a winner in my book.

    1. Hi Lucy, I am sure you can imagine how thrilled I am to have been invited to join the Design Team. Sorry you still have wild fires burning, there seem to be natural (and man made) disasters every way you turn at the moment. Keep safe. Lx

  5. Gorgeous card using this (at first glance, slightly tricky) colour combo- although it turned into one I loved too! I'm sure it'll be used many more times :-)
    Hugs, Sarah-Jane xx
